Church Beliefs

The hallmark of Midlands Bible Baptist Church is the preaching and teaching of God’s Word. In all of our Sunday school classes, and from the pulpit, we declare timeless precepts from the Bible coupled with practical applications for daily life.

We seek to glorify God with music that lifts up the name of Christ. Our traditional, yet encouraging, congregational singing and special music aids each individual’s opportunity to participate in singing praises to Him.

Finally, we hold to traditional, biblical, Baptist beliefs. In our drifting society, where families are torn apart and violence is rampant, people need a solid, steady anchor. We believe the time-tested truths, preached and taught with relevance and compassion at Midlands, offer that anchor of peace and steadfastness people are seeking.

We believe the Bible is the Word of God

The whole Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, is verbally inspired, infallible and without error. We believe the King James Version is the preserved Word of God, and it is the only Bible we use for preaching, classes and any other church events. (2 Timothy 3:16)

We believe there is only one living and true God

He is eternally existing in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. He is self-existent, infinite, holy and worthy of all possible honor. (Deuteronomy 6:4; 1 Timothy 1:17)

We believe Jesus Christ is the very Son of God.

He was born of the virgin Mary, lived a perfect life and died as mankind’s substitute. (Matthew 1:23)

We believe Jesus Christ died for our sins

He died on the cross to pay for the sin of all mankind and rose from the grave three days later. He alone is the mediator and intercessor between God and man. (Luke 19:10; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; 1 Timothy 2:5)

We believe every person is a sinner

Because of our sin, every one of us is separated from God and rightfully deserving of eternal condemnation. (Romans 5:12; 6:23; John 3:18)

We believe salvation is by grace through faith alone

Every person must be saved by being born again. Salvation is the gift of God, brought to man by grace and received by personal faith in Jesus Christ. (John 1:12; 3:3; Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9)

We believe Christ keeps those who are born again eternally secure

They cannot lose their salvation and have the guarantee of a future resurrection and home in heaven. (2 Timothy 1:12; John 10:28)

We believe a church is a body of baptized believers

We believe this body is local, visible and autonomous. We believe Jesus Christ started the first church during His earthly ministry. A church is only composed of saved, baptized believers. Water baptism and the Lord’s Supper are the two ordinances given to the church. The mission of each church is to preach and teach the Gospel. (Matthew 16:18; 28:18-20; Acts 2:41-42; 8:36-38; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26)

We believe in the imminent return of Christ

We believe the rapture of all believers, which may happen at any time, will usher in the seven-year tribulation period. After this, Christ will personally and visibly return with His saints to establish His earthly Messianic Kingdom. (1 Thess. 4:13-18; Titus 2:13; Revelation 19:11-16)
